According to Steve Englehart of Adirondack Architecual Heritage, efforts to save the structure have been around for years but with the railroad's insistance that the building be moved from its location made it dificult. Englehart also noted that there was a new effort recently to save the building but with no avail. Assemblywomen Sayward and Duprey also offered their encouragement to save a local landmark. An idea that floated around was to move the structure to the newly formed Plattsburgh Transportation Museum. The railroad's descision was based on their evaluation of contaminants present and was demolished the last week in December of 2010.
GONE! Train Station is No MoreAfter years of attempts and requests to save the historic structure, Canadian Pacific recently demolished the Willsboro depot a.k.a. the freight house. Built in the late 1800's the structure was the communty's meeting place for generations.
