There will be a presentation on the new New York State SAFE Act at the Willsboro School on Thursday April 18th at 6 p.m. Essex County Sherriff's Department will be on hand to answer questions from the public. The presentation is sponsored by the Willsboro Fish and Game Club and will focus on the new law as it pertains to guns, ammunition and magazines. The state has updated the burn ban recently. Since the area has received a moderate amount of rain, the ban on contained fire-pits and camp fires has been lifted. The state-wide burning ban is still in effect for brush, fields and other large burns. All burning permits issued have been rescinded. It is against NYS law to burn household garbage (i.e. burn barrels).
